S. Weir Mitchell and Benjamin Rush letters (unprocessed)

Scope and Contents note This is a small collection of items related to Benjamin Rush and S. Weir Mitchell. The materials include: printed portraits of Mitchell and Rush; a newspaper clipping of the Nathan Goodman portrait of Mrs. Rush; a 1809 letter from Rush to Julia Rush, discussing travel arrangements; a [1852] letter from Mitchell to [C.] Moore, Esq. In the letter, Mitchell offers praise to Moore for his sonnets.

Samuel B. Hunter clinical lecture notes from Pennsylvania Hospital and Jefferson Medical College

Scope and Contents note Bound volume of notes in pencil and ink taken by Samuel B. Hunter in 1854 and 1855. The notes record Hunter's observation of clinical visits, describing patient's complaints and their treatments. The volume also includes some recipes for prescriptions.

Samuel Coates letter to Joseph Paschall

Scope and Contents Autograph letter signed from Samuel Coates in Philadelphia to Joseph Paschall, 25 Sept. 1793, describing family matters, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of 1793, and conditions in city during yellow fever epidemic. Coates lists acquaintances who are recovering, ill, or dead and mentions treating the disease with specific of Benjamin Rush.
