Scope and Contents This small collection of William N. Bradley's papers consists of several series. Series 1 contains manuscripts and typescripts of Bradley's radio broadcasts( 1923-1942); most of these broadcasts concern matters of child health and hygiene. Bradley's addresses (1918-1934), also concerned with child health, are preserved in Series 2. William Osler Abbott papers

Scope and Contents The William Osler Abbott papers consists of two collections. The first collection contains correspondence, reprints, and health and biographical notes, and was assembled by Catherine Leek, Abbott's secretary at the Gastro Intestinal Clinic at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.The second collection documents his work with T. William Osler patient records from the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania

Scope and Contents Clinical records of patients under care of William Osler in wards MM and WM at Hospital of University of Pennsylvania, 1887-1889. In addition to Osler’s notes, patient records contain notes by James Tyson (Osler’s successor in professorship of clinical medicine at the University) and two resident physicians, Joseph Leidy and L. L. Mial. Several examples of cases of Bright’s disease, dyspepsia, tuberculosis, rheumatism, and typhoid fever.

William Paul Crillon Barton manuscript on the history of Jefferson Medical College

Scope and Contents One volume (47 leaves) of an allegorical essay on the spirit of competition that existed between the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania and the newly founded Jefferson Medical College. A 15 page typewritten transcript is included with the manuscript.

William Pepper letters to Hampton L. Carson

William R. Cooper postcards

Overview Dr. William Ridge Cooper was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in 1862. He graduated from Jefferson Medical College, worked in his father’s medical practice, and later established his own. Cooper died in 1925.

The William R. Cooper postcards date from February through December of 1893. There are ten postcards in the collection, all from patients reporting new cases or requesting visits from Cooper.

William S. Playfair portraits of cases of rest treatment

Scope and Contents Before-and-after photographs of six female patients of W. S. Playfair who had undergone rest-cure treatment for hysteria and neurasthenia. Treatment included seclusion and rest, massage, electricity, and regimented diet. According to donor, S. Weir Mitchell, Playfair exhibited either the cases or, more probably, the photographs to British Medical Association. Playfair did describe four cases of this type to the Medical Section of British Medical Association, Worcester, England, 9 Aug. 1882....

William Shamburger essay on cynanche laryngea

Titled "An inaugural essay on cynanche laryngea presented to the faculty of the Philadelphia College of Medicine for the degree of doctor in medicine."
