The service provided is usually described as a visit. Occasionally, more description, such as vaccination of a child, is given. Most payments are recorded as cash. The casebook, 1864-1871, is in series 2. The boundaries of the division are given as Chestnut Street (north), South Street (south), Broad Street (west), and the Delaware River (east). The casebook is arranged chronologically, and each entry lists the case number, date, description of the patient, diagnosis, and outcome of the case. Each patient’s description includes, at a minimum, the name, address, ethnicity, age, and gender of the person. The outcome of each case is coded, and the code’s key to the code is provided on the first page of the volume.
