Biographical / Historical
Sarah Hunloke was the maternal aunt of John Newman, first husband
of Esther Hewlings, mother of Bishop William White (1748-1836).
Her will was dated 1 July 1773; internal evidence suggests
she died in either 1773 or early 1774.

The Sarah Hunloke collection was donated to the Historical Collections
of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia by Mrs. A. Douglas
Oliver, circa 1978.

Processing Information
The collection includes a letter signed by Benjamin Chew, Register
General for the Probate of Wills, from Philadelphia, dated 28
January 1774, attesting that the will of Sarah Hunloke was proved
and administration of her estate committed to William White,
and a bill for medical services to Sarah Hunlock [sic], from
1752 to 1773, for which payment was received by physician John
Kearsley on 10 March 1774 from William White.
