Overview The Hahnemannian Medical Institute, a student society, was organized in 1849-1850 as the Williamson Institute for students attending lectures at Hahnemann Medical College of Philadelphia. In 1854, the name of the organization was changed to Hahnemannian Medical Society, then, in 1864, to Hahnemannian Medical Institute. The Institute organized scientific lectures, promoted debates and quizes on academic subjects, and held annual commencements with diplomas. Students were elected "professors",...

Scope and Contents This small collection documents Robert H. Colhoun's medical education at the University of Pennsylvania in 1832. The collection contains Colhoun's matriculation ticket, signed by William E. Horner and tickets admitting him to the lectures of Thomas C. James and William Dewees on midwifery and Nathaniel Chapman on the institutes of medicine and clinical practice.

Scope and Contents This small collection documents the medical education of William L. Challiss at Jefferson Medical College, 1847-1848. The collection contains one matriculation card for the 18481849 academic session and admission cards to the lectures of Franklin Bache, Robley Dunglison, Robert M. Huston, Charles D. Meigs, John K. Mitchell, Thomas D. Mutter, and Joseph Pancoast. There is also one card admitting Challiss to lectures at the Philadelphia School of Anatomy in 1847.
