Fall River Hospital, a small private hospital in Fall River, Mass., was incorporated in 1885 and first opened to patients in 1888. A training school for nurses was also opened in 1888. In 1888, the hospital trustees placed the management of the facility under the direction of a Woman's Board which set the terms for admission and discharge of patients. The Executive Committee of the Woman's Board supervised all internal hospital arrangements, supplies and purchases, and the nursing school. In October 1900, Fall River Hospital either closed and sold its facility to the newly-incorporated Union Hospital or was subsumed under the Union Hospital.
