Present in Series 3 are the reports of various officers of the Committee on Fellowship, including the Secretary, the Chairman, and the Coordinator of Membership Records. The Secretary's Reports consist of statistics on the number of deaths, remissions of dues, and resignations in the Fellowship. Figures for the total number of resident, non-resident, honorary, and honorary associate Fellows are contained in the reports of the Chairman. The Membership Reports, prepared by the Coordinator of Membership Records, provide statistics on newly elected Fellows and the number of Fellowship applications pending.

Series 4 documents the procedure for election into the Fellowship of the College of Physicians. Included in this series are Fellowship Reports, prepared by the Committee on Fellowship, which provide biographical information on candidates for election into the Fellowship. Also included in this series are lists of Candidates for Council Vote, which were submitted to the Fellows by the Committee on Fellowship; the Fellows were encouraged to provide feedback on the candidates before the Council voted on them. The Council Vote, which contains the same information found in the Fellowship Reports, provides a list of candidates recommended to the Council by the Committee on Fellowship. Also present in Series 4 are lists of new Fellows who were successfully inducted into the College.

Contained in Series 5 is correspondence, memoranda, and order forms pertaining to the purchase of Fellowship certificates for new Fellows of the College. Evelyn Huber, Administrative Assistant on Fellowship, and Lee O'Leary, Coordinator of Membership Activities, are primary correspondents. Series 7 contains numerous Fellowship applications submitted by individuals who never became Fellows of the College. Included are withdrawn applications; applications without follow ups or sponsors; deferred, rejected, or incomplete applications; and applications for which dues were never sent. Many of the applications contain a resume and photograph of the candidate.

Applications for Continuing Medical Education Credits are included in Series 8. Series 9 contains correspondence, form letters, and solicitation letters pertaining to the Annual Giving Campaign of the College. Also included are memoranda, most of which were sent by A, Jerry Condon, Director of Institutional Advancement, and Executive Director John M. O'Donnell.

Miscellaneous material is contained in Series 10. Biographical / Historical

At a meeting of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia held on 27 November 1956, Richard A, Kern made a motion "that a Membership Committee be created for the purpose of recruiting qualified physicians for Fellowship in the College". On 29 January 1957, a "Special Committee of the College of Physicians for Promoting Proposals for Membership in the College" was established, and Roy W. Mohler was appointed to chair the committee.

Over the years, the name of this committee changed from the "Special Committee on Proposals for Membership" to the "Committee on Membership" to the "Committee on Fellowship". The Committee on Fellowship became a standing Committee of the College of Physicians in 1972. The by-laws of this year state that the Committee on Fellowship "shall seek candidates for Fellowship and help process their nominations" and "investigate every candidate for Fellowship thoroughly".

As of 1992, the Committee on Fellowship remains an active body of the College of Physicians. According to the 1990 by-laws, this committee "shall receive all nominations for admission to Fellowship...investigate in strict confidentiality the ethical, personal and professional qualifications of each candidate [and] recommend...plans for the enhancement and strengthening of the College's Fellowship".
