Records of the Women's Committee III

 Collection
Identifier: CPP 10/025-04

Overview

The Women’s Committee of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia was organized in 1971 by Mrs. Frank Elliott to promote the welfare of the College through volunteer activities, publicity, and financial support. As of 2005, it was still an active organization. The organization is not an official College committee but exists in an independent relation to the institution. The Women’s Committee was accorded official recognition by College Council on October 26, 1971. Its officers were a president, president-elect, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, and treasurer; each served a two-year term and were a member of the Committee’s Executive Board. It seems the Women’s Committee was made up mostly of Fellows’ wives.

This small collection documents some of the early activities of the Women's Committe from the years 1971 through 1978, although not all years are represented. Included are Executive Board meeting minutes; projects such as garden work, by-law revisions in 1972, and correspondence.
