irritants, tonics, aromatics, astringents, emetics, cathartics, emmenagogues, diuretics, diaphoretics,

John Redman Coxe was born on 16 September 1773 in Trenton, N.J. and died in Philadelphia on 22 March 1864. He earned his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1794. Topics covered include animal life, sympathy, nutrients, vegetable food (grains, roots, fruits), animal food (mutton, wild game, poultry, eggs, fish, shellfish, snake, turtle, milk, dairy products), cooking (pickling, soups, roasting, broiling, frying, stewing), and drinks.
